Introduction Post

I have been meaning for a while now to really sit down and read the entire Bible cover to cover. When I was younger, I always had trouble comprehending the King James version (KJV). I'm sure many of you know what I'm talking about because that's what we had mostly at the time. After I got older, I purchased some additional Bibles in different translations to see if it would help my comprehension. And so far, I am proud to say it has.

I have a prophecy study Bible that is the KJV. What I love the most is that it has detailed descriptions of prophecy throughout the Bible as well as colored charts that help explain timelines of things that are going to happen, particularly in Revelation.

I also have an Amplified Bible that has the KJV and the AMP translation side-by-side.

The third one I have that I love is The Voice translation. It reads almost like a story book which is wonderful for me.

I figured out that if I can read 3 to 4 chapters a day or a total of 23 a week, I should be able to complete the Bible within a year. I started out by reading the Gospels and Acts first. Then I'm going back to Genesis and going in order. I also ordered a Bible study guide that makes studying the Bible easier. I think I am going to post weekly the readings I will be doing along with summaries from the study guide. If anyone would like to follow along with me, that would be wonderful.

If you are like me and struggle to find time to read as much as you would like to, I also use a Bible app that not only has multiple translations available for ease of reading, but some of the translations also have narrators where you can listen to it like an audiobook. I like to use this feature to help make sure that I am reading enough and not falling behind on my plan. It's nice to listen to when driving alone or anytime that you have a little bit of quiet time. Reading three to four chapters a day may seem like a lot, but if you are using the audio narration, you could easily cover a chapter in 5 to 8 minutes on average. So it really doesn't take as long as you think it does.

Week 8 — Nov 24-30: (Gen 50, Exo 1-22)

Exodus tells how God frees Israel from slavery and shapes them into a covenant nation. The story begins with a new Pharaoh who fears the growing Hebrews and forces them into harsh labor. God protects baby Moses, who is raised in Pharaoh’s palace yet flees after defending a fellow Hebrew. Years later, at a burning bush in the desert, God sends Moses back to Egypt with a promise of rescue. There He reveals the divine name “I AM.” With his brother Aaron, Moses confronts Pharaoh. Ten escalating plagues show God’s power and expose Egypt’s idols. The final plague, the death of firstborn sons, passes over homes marked by lamb’s blood.
